I have to really give the Whitby YHA 5 stars for it's amazing location and views over Whitby. I stayed 4 nights with 22 other people from my walking group over the 2018-19 New Year. Everyone had a great time and were full of praise for the hostel. The Church of Saint Mary and the Abbey are next to the Abbey House and just take the location to another level. Staying in the Abbey House is great, still full of history and the YHA have done it's best to restore the original look and preserve original features with information boards. The cafe serves drinks and great food at very reasonable prices. Self catering kitchen was clean and well equipped. Bedrooms were standard bunk beds with Shower and toilet in each room. Power Points were available to charge phones etc, light for each bunk bed. The staff were friendly and it was just a great break. Would I come back, yes for sure. The only issue is the lack of car parking available at the hostel, but there is no quick fix for this. Just bare this in mind, there is a pay and display car park about 5 minutes walk from the hostel.
Popped in for cake and coffee, after looking at Abbey. very impressed with the whole place. Choice of cakes are good and comfy seats. Also do other food
Lovely cafe with great views. Spacious garden. Just at the top of the 199 steps from the town, and next to the Abbey ruins.
Great historic building. Thanks again YHA for a great stay me and my wife totally enjoyed our time at the hostel. As always clean warm and comfortable and a good hearty breakfast. See you again soon.
Absolutely amazing place to stay. We stayed 2 nights with breakfast both mornings which was excellent. Lovely friendly staff didn't have to drive anywhere once car was parked. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Also self catering available.
