Excellent place with very friendly and welcoming staff ..will definitely visit again.
Had dinner here last night and the food was gorgeous. Service was excellent. Could do with a couple more beer choices and tablecloths upstairs wouldn't go amiss. But overall well worth a visit. Probably the food you can get in Whitby if you are looking for somewhere dog friendly.
I came here with a friend for Sunday lunch after looking at reviews. We both had beef. That was actually the problem. It was as tough as old boots. After paying nearly 30 for two meals you should not have to eat tough beef. The Yorkshire pudding were lovely and the vegetables average. The portion size wasnt great and didnt get enough gravy. You can get a lot better elsewhere for half the price.
My husband and I went to The White Horse and Griffin for my birthday. We had been for a meal before on our holiday some years ago and had thoroughly enjoyed it.Unfortunately the experience was not quite the same. The food was very bland - I had ordered the sea bream that came in a soup with butternut squash and potato. This was tasteless, where was the seasoning some herbs or garlic? My husband's steak had a large piece of gristle running through it and for the price of 25.00 he was very disappointed.The evening was rounded off by as we were leaving being followed to the door by the waitress who asked if we had paid...um great looking place with fantastic history but just stick to the gin cocktails the food is not worth the money that's charged.
Great old-fashioned pub. Customer service was perfect. Really enjoyed meals. Had really good time with my husband. The only issue is that you need to book a table in advance if you want to go for a dinner because they are busy at evenings so you can't just walk in... but I will recommend it anyway.
