We absolutely loved coming here and we learnt so much. The laboratory is a plethora of equipment that are like pieces of art in their own right and some uniquely made to enhance your experience. Tony and Pat made us feel so welcome and it was lovely to have tea and cake before the second part of whizz bangs and pops.
Excellent, unique and good value with superb atmosphere.
Excellent. If you want to go, it is advisable to book well in advance, but really interesting.Note that there is a minimum age, as some of the equipment is very high voltage stuff, and little fingers would definitely not mix well with it.Wimshurst machines, induction coils, jacob''s ladder, tesla coil, all sorts of crackles, sparks, electrostatic levitation (foil sheet between highly charged plates)Thousands of volts from the tesla coil producing several inches of lighting bolts.
Tony Swift and his museum is one of the most exciting places in North Yorkshire to visit!
A wonderful experience and presented by a genuine enthusiast who clearly loves what he's doing. This is a place that all children should be taken to as it truly captures that joy that is scientific exploration of the unknown. Unfortunately it's only suitable for small groups we went as a foursome and that really did feel like the absolute maximum although this is not actually that unfortunate as it means there is ample opportunity to ask questions and discuss the various things being shown to you.
