A great information centre with helpful staff.
I have been fortunate to have visited Whitby over the last 50 years, loved it as a child and adult, even lived there for a short time in my early twenties.I am an animal lover but now find that the level of people going on a trip to Whitby and the like, with one or more Dogs are spoiling it. I would like to point out that I am an animal lover but not to the extent where it is I that has to move off the pavement and walk on the road so that the people with 1 dog or more have free reign over the pavements, last visited on the 24/25 May and decided to eat in a lovely Pub, however a couple with 2 very large dogs came and sat near by and the dogs stank. At the same time a man sat near by had 2 dogs that started barking wildly at the other dogs. We left our food and the pub, we won't go there again. We won't eat in any Whitby pub from now on. We walked for hours and during that time noticed 2 older people tripped over the very long dog leads that spread right across the pavements, once again forcing people off the narrow pavements onto the road. I realise that Whitby/Businesses make all welcome, that is a good thing but I don't want to visit somewhere that starting to stink like a kennel. So dog lovers it's a great day out. For you & your mutts.
